Nyimine Empowerment CBO (NYECBO) is a Non-Profit and a Community- based organisation initiated in August 2020 to help spearhead community driven development initiatives and enable community groups to participate in integrated activities to achieve quality livelihood and be self sustainable. Gender Equality and Meaningful Youth participation is the heart of our core mandate, we believe that achieving gender equality is not just exercising human rights but also improving socio-economic status in our communities. We not only value community ownership as a right that speaks to inclusion, but also a key to achieving long-lasting impact. We believe that community action is crucial for the respect, fulfilment and promotion of sexual and reproductive health rights and sustainability. We also believe that empowering young people is key in advancing essential decision making at all levels and breed a culture that supports young people’s participation in decision-making.

Achievement of Gender equality has proven to have socio-economic benefits. Women are denied access to basic education and healthcare, especially sexual and reproductive health which is paramount given the rising issues such as high number of teenage pregnancies, low uptake of contraceptives, high cases of unsafe abortions which ultimately lead to the high rate of maternal mortality and morbidity. Additionally women and young girls suffer violence and discrimination and are often underrepresented in decision making processes.

NYECBO delivers its activities through the power and spirit of volunteerism to build sustainable communities. Our main purpose is to build a competent, healthier, economically stable and focused community, equipped with necessary tools, skills and knowledge for self-reliance and development , leading to full realisation of health including sexual and reproductive health.
